Event photography that brings clients back

An event lasts a few days. Its pictures work for years: in the recap, the sponsor report, the website and the pitch for next year. Here is how we plan event coverage in Marrakech so nothing important is missed.

5 min read

Marrakech is one of the great meeting and incentive destinations: conference hotels, palaces for gala dinners, the desert and the mountains for team activities, all within an hour. Agencies and companies fly in hundreds of guests, and the pictures are often the only way the rest of the company, the sponsors and next year’s clients will see it.

We are an event photographer and videographer in Marrakech. This is the guide we share with agencies before an event.

Know what the pictures are for

Before the shot list, the purpose. Internal communication needs faces and atmosphere. Sponsors need their logos in context. Marketing needs wide, beautiful pictures of the venue and the experience to sell the next edition. Press needs a few strong images within hours.

Write those uses into the brief, and the photographer will frame every moment with them in mind.

Photo tipShare a list of the VIPs and sponsors with the photographer, with photos of their faces, before the first day.

Work from the run of show

The minute-by-minute schedule is the photographer’s map. Mark the moments that cannot be missed: the opening, each keynote, the award, the group photo, the arrival at the dinner, the surprise. When there are two things at once, decide in advance which one matters most, or book a second photographer.

Photo tipPlan the group photo right after a session ends, before people scatter, and choose a raised spot in advance.

Every keynote, every speaker, every slide that matters.

Conferences and keynotes

Speakers from the front and the side, with their slides readable. The audience listening, taking notes, laughing. Wide shots of the full room that show the scale. Networking breaks, where the real conversations happen.

Stage lighting is often mixed and dark, so ask the AV team for even light on the speaker’s face and check the screen brightness.

Photo tipShoot the audience reacting, not only the speaker. Engagement is what the client wants to see.

Activities and excursions

This is where Marrakech shines: a cycling ride across the plains, quads and camels in Agafay, falconry, a cooking class in a riad, a hike in the Atlas. The pictures from these moments are what guests share and what sells the destination next year.

Plan transport for the photographer so they arrive before the group, and a vehicle that can follow moving activities.

Photo tipGet ahead of the group and shoot people coming towards you, with the landscape behind them.

Gala dinners and desert nights

Candles, lanterns, a long table under the stars, fire dancers and musicians: Marrakech evenings are made for pictures, but they are dark. A good event photographer works with the existing light and adds just enough flash to keep faces bright without killing the atmosphere.

Photograph the set-up before guests arrive, when the tables are perfect and the light is still blue.

Photo tipThe ten minutes before guests arrive give you the best venue shots of the whole event.

People, not only places

The best event pictures are candid: a laugh during a coffee break, colleagues dancing, a guest trying on a kaftan, the CEO with the team. They are what people remember and what makes the recap feel human.

Photo tipA long lens and a little patience. People forget the camera after a few minutes.

Same-day delivery and aftermovies

A selection of edited pictures delivered the same evening lets the client post during the event, while the energy is high, and send a recap to guests the next morning. The full gallery follows a few days later.

Add a short aftermovie and a few vertical reels, and the event lives on long after the guests fly home.

Photo tipAgree on the number of same-day pictures and the delivery time in advance, and set up a shared folder before the event.

Questions about event photography

Do you cover corporate events and incentive trips in Marrakech?

Yes: conferences, incentives, product launches, gala dinners, desert nights and team activities, in Marrakech and across Morocco.

Can you deliver photos on the same day?

Yes. A selection of edited pictures can be delivered the same evening, with the full gallery a few days later.

Do you also film events?

Yes. We film aftermovies, interviews and vertical reels, and can cover photo and video together. See our videography page.

How many photographers do we need?

One photographer covers most events of up to about 150 guests. For parallel sessions, large gala dinners or multi-day programmes, we recommend two.

Do you travel to the desert and the mountains with the group?

Yes. We follow the programme wherever it goes, from Agafay to the Atlas and the coast.
